Biography
Born in Osimo (Marche), during his adolescence his passion for music pushed him to begin studying electric jazz guitar under the guidance of Maestro Augusto Mancinelli. During this training period he learned, in addition to instrumental technique, also the reading of music and the first rudiments of composition. In 1999 he left the study of music to dedicate himself to design, graduating from the Polytechnic of Milan. In 2009 he discovered, at the same time as his career as a designer, a strong passion for opera music, good vocal skills (timbre, intonation and power) and chose to follow the path of singing in parallel.
In September 2013 he was a finalist in the international competition “New voices for opera” of the Pavia Lirica club. In November 2014 he was a finalist in the “Magda Olivero” opera competition. Also in 2014 he made his debut as Schaunard in Puccini's Bohème at the Rosetum Theater and at the Cloister of the civic museum of Crema. In the 2012/13/14 Seasons of laVERDI he performed in the Passion according to John and Passion according to Matthew by Johann Sebastian Bach, conducted by M. Ruben Jais, interpreting the PPPJ roles and debuting as a soloist in the related concerts at the Teatro alla Scala and in the Cathedral of Milan. In September 2014 he made his debut in the role of Count in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at the Bad-Ems Theater in Germany. In January 2015 he made his debut at the Piccolo Teatro Strehler with the opera-thriller show ...and you, Mimì, what do you want?, written by Paola Barbato, current author of the comic Dylan Dog. With this show he will tour throughout Italy. In February 2015 he played the role of Imperial Commissioner in Puccini's Madame Butterfly at the Fondazione Cariplo Auditorium in Milan. In March 2015 he debuted the solo role in G.Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle at the Teatro della Società di Lecco directed by M. Erina Gambarini.
In June 2015 he made his debut in the opera "Una di vino commedia" written by the wine producer Cignozzi and set to music by M. Luis Bacalov (Oscar winner for "The Postman"); in the same month Handel's Messiah premiered conducted by M. Luigi Ponzi in the church of S. Antonio da Padova and the two Magnificats by C.P.E. Bach and J.C. Bach conducted by M. Ruben Jais in the Basilica of San Simpliciano in Milan.
In July 2015 he debuted the role of Haly in “Italiana in Algeri” in the important Rossini festival of Wildbad, and in the same festival he took part with the role of Bellecour in the concert of “Vespro Siciliano” by Lindpainter directed by M. Federico Longo, for which was made with an audio recording and CD printing by the Naxos record company and a delayed broadcast of the concert in August 2015 by Deutschland Radio.
On August 31, 2015 the “Misa Tango” and the “Psalm 23” debut, music composed and directed by M. Luis Bacalov, in the Church of Sant'Angelo in Milan (Brera). In September he performed the role of Count in Nozze di Figaro in the austere setting of Villa Clerici (Milan).
Also in September he won the Besostri International Opera Competition (Mede – Pv). October 2015 debuts the role of Masetto in Don Giovanni at the Teatro Comunale of Sassari directed by M. Gaetano D'Espinosa. December 2015 debuts the role of Marcello in Boheme at the MAMU space (music warehouse) in Milan, whose direction and artistic supervision is entrusted to Maestro Lorenzo Arruga. February 2016 he debuted the role of Figaro in G. Rossini's The Barber of Seville at the Venarìa Theater in Turin, subsequently taking part in two other performances at the Carbonetti Theater in Broni and at the Don Bosco Theater in Pavia.
April 2016 debuts the role of Jesus in Bach's Passion according to John conducted by M. Ruben Jais in concerts at the LaVerdi Auditorium and Milan Cathedral. June 2016 debuts the role of Figaro in “The Marriage of Figaro” by W.A.Mozart in the prestigious setting of the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza.
July 2016 Alfio debuts in Cavalleria Rusticana and Silvio in Pagliacci in the splendid Cloister of the Civic Museum of the city of Crema. In November 2016 Fauré's Requiem debuts in the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan directed by M. Matteo Baxiu and debuts the role of Father / Alcina in the modern opera Alter Amy composed by Piergiorgio Ratti under the direction of M. Lorenzo Passerini, at the Teatro Sociale of Sondrio.
January 2017 he is Figaro in Barbiere di Siviglia by G.Rossini at the Rimini Auditorium. February 2017 Sharpless debuts in Puccini's Madame Butterfly at the Teatro di Mede with a repeat at the Teatro Don Bosco in Pavia.
June 2017 debuts the role of Mill in "La cambiale di matrimoni" by G. Rossini at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza directed by Maestro Rigon and directed by Marco Gandini. In the same month he debuted solo roles in Mozart's Requiem at the Palazzina liberty in Milan and in C.Orff's Carmina Burana at the Piccolo Teatro Grassi in Milan. July 2017 Don Alfonso made his debut in “Cosi fan tutte” by W.A. Mozart directed by Marco Gandini and conducted by Maestro Finazzi in various performances in the Swiss Ticino area, including a performance in the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland in Lugano. Also in July 2017 he debuted the solo role in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony conducted by Maestro Flor with the LaVerdi orchestra at the Cariplo Auditorium in Milan. In August 2017 he was Figaro in "Il barbiere di Siviglia" by G.Rossini at the Tagliacozzo Midsummer Festival directed by Alberto Paloscia and conducted by Maestro Savic. Also in August 2017 he sang arias taken from Rossini's Sacred opera in the concert "D'ogni more sacred commitment" at the Accademia Organistica Elpidiense, accompanied on the organ by M° Scandali. In autumn 2017 he sang respectively at the Teatro Umberto Giordano in Foggia for an opera concert dedicated to Rossini, accompanied on the piano by M° Michele d'Elia (Accademia Teatro alla Scala) and in the main church of Lodi for a Mozart/Rossini/Paisiello concert accompanied by the Amici del Loggione choir of the Teatro alla Scala and directed by Maestro Filippo Dadone. In November 2017 she sang the main role in the modern opera “Alter Amy” at the premiere at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan, directed by Maestro Passerini. Also in November 2017 he sang the bass role in Mozart's Requiem, in the Teatro di Sondrio and in the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan. In December 2017 he participated in the “Appennino InCanto” Masterclass curated by Maestro Angelo Gabrielli and Maestro Mirca Rosciani and consequently he was Figaro in the Barbiere di Siviglia directed by Maestro Angelo Gabrielli at the Luciano Pavarotti Theater in Modena. In May 2018 he was Rossini's Figaro in the Azerbaijan Festival at the National Theater in Baku. In June 2018 he was Tarabotto in Rossini's Inganno Felice at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza. In July 2018 he performed as Schaunard in Boheme at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago directed by A. Signorini and conducted by A. Veronesi; like Yamadori in Butterfly always in the same Puccini festival. In September 2018 he recorded the Sinfonia Mariana composed by Armando Pierucci, for Swiss Radio TSI. November 2018 he won the Puccini Academy Award 2018 at the Torre del Lago Festival.
In January 2019 he is Escamillo in Bizet's Carmen for the first complete inauguration opera of the Amintore Galli Theater in Rimini. February 2019 he is Don Alfonso in "Così fan tutte" of the SOI (Italian opera school Fiorenza cedolins) with performances in Turin and Milan.
In April 2019 he was the baritone soloist in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony conducted by M. Baxiu in Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan. In the 2019 season of the Torre del Lago Puccini Festival he performed the roles of Yamadori, Wallace and Schaunard in the operas Madame Butterfly, La fanciulla del West and Bohème respectively.
In August 2019 he was awarded as best young talent, with the "Michelangelo Cupisti" award. In December 2019 he participated as a soloist in the Christmas concert of the Rossini Choir at the Luciano Pavarotti Municipal Theater of Modena.
In January 2020 he is Schaunard in the opening of the Podgoriza Theater in Montenegro. In February 2020 he was the baritone soloist in Mozart's Requiem at the LaVerdi auditorium in Milan.
In October 2020 he is the bass soloist in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in the Church of Santa Corona, for the Vicenza Musical Weeks Festival. In June 2021 he debuted the role of Christ in Refice's Samaritana at the Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral in Parma, directed by M. Dario Tabbia for the first appointment of the year zero of the Toscanini Festival.
In January 2022 he debuted the role of Doctor Malatesta in Donizetti's Don Pasquale at the Galli Theater in Rimini.
He is an acclaimed Belcore in Donizetti's Elisir D' Amore at Villanueva De La Vera (Cáceres, Spain) directed by Yannis Hadjiloizou with direction by William G. Constabile Cisco.
